Insurance Question: Better to go std insurance or agreed value (collector) insurance.
Car will be a daily driver, excellent condition 1989 Carrera 3.2 with 60K. Probably worth a fair but more than standard insurance would value it at.

Depends on how much you have in the car $$. Agreed value needs to be inspected and they would need to actually agree to the value. Look up the Nada value online and see if the low retail is close to what you paid for it. As long as that's sufficient go with the regular coverage.
In the case of settlement needed for a loss most insurance companies use a localized searching service via a vendor called CCC that checks the value. The agreed value would be fixed in amount. Where "ACV" policies would adjust value to current market conditions and be settled based on pricing for the same maonth as the loss. I've noticed that the Nada hasnt caught up with the lower pricing we've seen lately.

If it will be your daily driver, then collectors insurance may not be right for you. Most collector companies will require that the car only be driven to shows or on special occasions. They don't actually track the mileage, but the fine print says that they can deny a claim if it is found that the car was not being used for "collector" purposes as defined in the contract.

Sometimes using the advanced search feature and just searching topic titles is useful. For example, for topics about insurance you can almost bet that the word insurance will be in the topic title. That will help you exclude lots of off-topic threads where you might find the word insurance.

Every Collector Car insurance policy with an agreed upon value that I've come across did not allow driving to work. If you find one please let us know. They also have the annual mileage limits as stated avove....but I'd be able to live with that.

Thanks for the advice and advice on searches....
Part of the problem is that I'm not sure exactly what terminology to search for, but I'll try to be more creative. |

Do a search on the insurance companies and you'll find lots:
* Your Hagerty insurance story wanted - * Grundy Parish Hagerty etc...

I have my 76 911 insured with Voyager Insurance in Texas. They are a nationwide insurance company that covers boats, exotic cars, RV's etc. I am limited to 6000 miles/year and has to be locked in a garage. The car has to be a "special edition", exotic, or over 25 years old. Coverage is about $200.00/ year here in NM.
