How about the car guys ("Car Talk") from NPR? I lived in Cambridge for 4 years and they salt the roads heavily in winter ...

Garage
http://www.autobahnperformance.com/ This one is half hour North of Cambridge

http://www.epe.com/ This one is half hour West of Boston

Don't really think there is one IN Cambridge, or even in Boston itself. Most are outside the city.

You can also use Randolph Racing in Stoughton - about 18 miles south of the city. www.ranrace.com

Ishmeal, I can provide visual inspection, photos sent to you and compression. If you want more than that I would reccomend one of the shops listed above. I charge 75.00.

Cheers, James

I guess, if the records come up okay with quality work already done to the engine, then, maybe, that'll be all I need, that is, pics, eyes and ears for a drive to listen for problems, feel the steering, and feel the engine.

I just spoke to Kevin at Randolph Racing (781 344 1029) He will work the car into his schedule with no waiting, once it gets there, if you want a thorough inspection. He's an approved PCA tech inspector, and charges $70, which will include a compression and leakdown test, and a thorough overview of the rest of the car.

Best of luck with your new purchase.

Yes. It's the one dreeves has for sale. I'll contact him to see if it's what I'm looking for. If so, I'll use the above suggestions for PPI. I'm giving up on the 72 and 73T's cause I want a galvanized model. Keeping my options open.

You know anything about this car, PM me.

Hey, Dave. Yes, it's me...

Took some photos this afternoon. I would love to keep it, but my job is just keeping me way too busy to have time for three elderly german cars right now. I'll be sad to see it go.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

One vote against both of these shops. I was not happy in both service and price. they are very expensive too, for what you get.

I would suggest getting rid of one of the Barvarian Masquera Wagons instead... :-)

Cheers, James

Hah... if I had a good way to keep all three, I would. Originally, the plan was to sell the 325is... but when it comes down to it, what I really want is one car for the track (that's already the M3) and one I don't have to worry about too much in salt and snow. That's the 325is. The 911 is too nice to run through the winter around here.

Edit: btw, I've been to Tremblant 3 times with the NER PCA in my E30. Have you ever gone?

I tend to agree, actually. I've had good results with a place in waltham: http://www.lfcg.com

They do a lot of work on 911s; the owner races a 914. Good people, and reasonable rates.

Heh. You recognize that, right? It's Simmons Hall, the new dorm at MIT. Right in my neighborhood.

Yes, I've been to Tremblant several times. I instructed there this summer for the first time. Fantastic track.

I understand your quandry with the cars but a 911 will make you a much better driver in the end. Just some food for thought.

Cheers, James
