Aero Mirrors

I have an 86 911 and am attempting to update the mirrors to the Aero style, The question is, The wiring in my car is very different from the new mirrors. Has anyone done this conversion succsessfully. I can get the driver side to work up, and, side to side but not down. The p side does not work at all. This is a factory Porsche kit from Pelican. Help

Scooter,

Do you have the following wires coming from your DS door:

Grey / Green stripe
Black / Yellow Stripe
White (2)
Brown
Blue

There should be the old-to-new wiring harnesses available. If Pelican doesn't carry them, you can get a pair from BW Motorsports.

You can reach BW (Brad) @ 618-622-0524. The adapters are quite spendy though.

Here are a couple previous threads that might be useful as well:

After some research I managed to do this without adapters on an otherwise stock '87. I'm going to post the details on one of the threads above that I started, but the basics are that the drivers's side provides a ground (for the heat) and shared "common motor drive" signal with the passenger side. There are really only three wires needed for the mirror motors, one common and a horizonal and a vertical. The common is connected to both of the motors in the mirror and the others to the respective motor for each direction. Ground and a final wire go to the heater (defrost) circuit.

Now this works on the '87, but you _may_ have a difference on the '86 - Porsche liked to do things like that!

Chris
