I have an 87 Carrera and am wondering about aftermarket ignition. I put an MSD unit in my TR6 with good results. Anyone upgraded from stock on a G-50 car? Thanks.

First question....
What is it that you're trying to fix ( improve) ?? If you want to "upgrade"...what are the current "symptoms"? High speed miss? Low speed plug fouling ?? The standard system ( if you grab it wrong while working on the car) will put you flat on your back. Wil

Thanks for the replies. I'm not trying to "fix" anything in particular - just wondering if the stock setup could be improved upon.

The stock system lights the fire fine. To improve it you can put a Steve Wong chip in it. Don't expect HP. Just expect driveability improvements.
To make a power improvement you will need to go to twin plug ignition. (bring money!) Wayne

The MSD is a great system if you're running carbs as it will help with a mixture that's not spot on. On a Motronic car, the consensus is that it does nothing (I'd tend to agree).
