Problem with the Marelli is, the triggers don't fit in the housing. If I want to go with a Pertronix or Crane trigger, I need to replace the Marelli with a Bosch unit.

As I've just replaced the points, I'll hold off on that for now.

Pertronix did not make a set up for my 66' Bosch distributor. So I contacted them and sent them my distributor (the core from my rebuilt one before I sent it back) and they custom made me a set up to fit my distributor. This was about 6 or 7 years ago and they charged me like $20 (well worth it). YOu may want to see if they can do the same for the Merelli if Caps and rotors are still avalible. Ditching the points will be the single best thing you can do for your car.

Didn't ask about caps and rotors, but I assume they aren't around. When it comes time, I'll investigate my dizzy options.

For the 1969 models ... only the 911E and 911S had CDI ignition. It was a short-sighted, cost-saving measure!

For 1970 models ... 911Ts got CDI as shown in the posted pic.

MSD tech writers [using the term VERY loosely] don't speak anything but Chevy-Ford ... and nothing but the USA dialects! So, asking them about Bosch ignitions on European cars is a complete waste of time!

You need the conversion and the adaptor kit. Works fine on teh bosch dist. It works to trigger the 71 CDI and stock tach on both my cars, including the 78SC tach in the project. You just need to Y the trigger wire and feed one end to the ignition and the other to the tach.

Warren is correct. The '69 T engines use a traditional points/coil setup - no CD box.

The positive terminal of a coil goes to system voltage (usually reduced by a ballest resistor). The negative terminal of a coil goes to the distributor (points).

Yes, you need a Bosch distributor to install a breakerless trigger.
