Wow!! Looks great, silver is my absolute favorite color for a 911 which is saying a lot because I really like them in lots of colors.
Do you have a non sunroof car there?? |
Nice work Derek!
|
Nice color! Big kudos for anyone who takes the time and effort to bring back one of these cars
|
Great job.
What body seals are you having trouble with? Dean |
Dean,
I am having trouble with the seal between the bumbers and the body. Are they glued on? |
Sorry I don't know the early cars
Good luck Dean |

Very nice. It helps to get me motivated on starting on my 73. My car was originally silver, then repainted black. Your car is sure making the silver look good.
On your front bumber how did you fill the holes that the trim piece go through? I currently have the S trim and the big black bumpers that have to go. Also was putting in a new headliner much trouble? |
Just use some 3M trim adhesive in a tube. It can be remove form the paint with tar remover if not too dry. And, it can be removed from the seal with some lacquer thinner.

Very nice Job Derek !
for me it is a lot of Good souvenir ! Raynald |
The car's looking great Derek. I'm going in the opposite direction. In the last couple weeks I've stripped the entire interior and front end of my car. It's going into storage next week for the MI winter. For my winter project I'm going to build a rotissirie. Keep posting pics until you finish it up, good to see another "four door" almost back on the road!

Thanks Guys
I hope to get the rest of the carpet and seals done on Sunday dmcummins ; On your front bumber how did you fill the holes that the trim piece go through? I currently have the S trim and the big black bumpers that have to go. Also was putting in a new headliner much trouble? The front and rear bumper , I had the body shop weld all the trim holes closed. As for the headliner, I would say it is not the best job ,but everyone was trying to F@#k my over on the price when they found out it was a Porsche. So I did it my self All I did was get a box of the large black paper clips , and took about a week to streach it out. Then I would set the clips and make that the new pull point. I think it could be tighter, but it is not bad. If you can to do it email me and I will post the whole thing. All together it cost about $75 for the headliner |
masraum = Yes it is a non sunroof car, As for the Color I used the piant code from my wifes Audi
|
can you give me details about the dolly you have your car on?
did you make it yourself? how did you get the car up on it? I have a ground up resto about to start...and I am thinking of using either a dolly or jaack stands.. thanks MJ |
82SC= I designed the dolly and had a shop make it for me.
I can email you some plans it may take me a few days to find them. I got it up there by jacking upon point and using jack stands Then side it under the car and let everything down. It works great in a shop for moving it, just a little push I also designed it just for a 911 I use 3'' Channel steel so it is rated to hold more the 5000# The only thing I did not do correctly is the wheels, the are only rated for 500# each and they will not work good on any surface that is not smooth. So the frame will hold about 5000# but the wheels limit it to 2000# |
looks great! you've made a lot of progress. do you have an estimated completion date?
|

I just put the front grills on tonight, I will post some pic's on Sunday I am worn out now from my Rugby game today, it's bed time. Thanks again Bob Derek |
