Compression test equipment
I want to do a compression test on the SC when I change the plugs out tomorrow.
Is this a good tester to get? ![]() http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00947089000&tab=spe#tablink I don't know much about them- is it difficult to secure the hose end in the 911 plug holes? It looks as if it doesn't actually screw into the hole- is this bad? Will I be ok cranking the optima for this task (I don't own a battery charger?) Thanks. |

Ubiquity0, yes, if you look at the 4 adapters that are standing up on end behind the 5 hoses, one of those adapters will screw into the spark plug holes, and attach to one of the hoses.
That looks like a good kit to me. It's got the valve that holds the pressure, and a quick connect for the hose, that's all you really need

PS Just FYI, you can delete the other post if you want. in the bottom right corner of your post right above the "post new topic" and "post reply" buttons you'll see an "edit" button. Click that button, then at the top of your post there should be a checkbox, if I remember correctly you put a check in the box and then there should be a button that says "delete post" or something to that effect. Click the button and the post will be gone.

Steve, thanks I'll try & pick this set up today. Its $50 which seems reasonable Sears have an other one thats half the price, bit it looks like it has just 1 long floppy tube that presses in.

Well I picked up the kit earlier. Worked well. I breezed through the left hand bank, but forsome reason had much more difficulty threading the hose into the right bank cylinders. Some slightly grazed knuckles but I got the result I wanted.

Very nice numbers if you ask me. I'd be way happy. Of course, I have not idea what motor you have compression wise, but the numbers look close enough. Do it on another day and they might be 5 digits different across the board.

Its an '82 SC w/ the top end redone about 30,000 miles ago.
I've nerver checked the compression since I bought it (i.e. including PPI) so I figured I might as well go ahead & do it. |
