Brake pad sensors saved butt

Went to my first DE this weekend and got in a total of 8 laps. While dropping off another driver who rode with me he noticed a light on the dash. Turned out to be the pad sensor light. I auto-X the car at least monthly and check the pads while changing the tires for auto-X. Had plenty of pad 2 weeks ago about 1.5 times the backing plate and over the last 1.5 years has not went down at any rapid rate. The pads are probably very old possibly originals as the car has 70,000 miles. Old pad and track day not a good idea. Point of this post is that serveral people suggest disconnecting the sensors. I would say think hard about it. As it is I didn't ruin any parts except a $6.00 sensor. Oh and a really nice track day.
