'77 Sunroof Air Deflector Upgrade

I know the stock '77 multi Al air deflector is plenty good for most guys.

I noticed a noticable difference in air noise from mine and my brother's '88 single plastic deflector when I was living in his car for a few weeks while driving around the west. So I'm 95% finished and just want to say it's doable.

I ordered "used" '88 tracks and deflector as a complete package. New cables, interior roof plastic roof fastner plastic sliders, etc. I now only need the 3" x 1/2" roof mounted plastic slider that rides up the deflector trailing arms.

The original tub 1/2" high tit that fits between the tracks and under that 6" metal strip that's at the foreward end of the tracks had to be shaved down and fitted to fit under the new style 6" strip metal. I thought I'd just drill a hole and ream it down. It's solid and I used a die grinder and two styles of bits. One bit to shave it down and another cone shaped bit to shape it.

Most of the bs time was figuring out handling the tits.

What pics do you want?

the roof fitted slider for the deflector trail arm clips on to a stock '88 roof. My roof doesn't have that convience. I'll have to design a holder for the 3" x 1/2" slider.

ps: the above is 1988

finished..

The difficult to locate, even w/ diag, part # is 911.564.433.00

The slider mounting part has to be snipped so it lays down. In stock form it's impossible to operate the roof. I broke one while snipping. I bought extra in advance. List is $0.89

I didn't want to attach the slider to the roof with a stiff epoxy like JB Weld so I used a flexible epoxy. Mfg by Marine Tex and called Flex Set. It's flexible enough so freexing weather and desert heat shouldn't disloge it from the roof tin. It's stiff enough to not allow any slack and a razor knife hardly cuts it .005

so in the pic is a stock slider and the custom slider deployed.

might as well throw in a pic of the slider deployed in stock form. The hight increase without snipping is maybe 1/2in.
