I see you are about - are you still selling "the tool?"

It's the Brake Pad Warning Light. If the light stays on when the engine is running the brake pads are worn excessively.

You've probably got a few voltage drops from the rear to front, some heavy loads,
or a regulator which has a low setting. The Paris Rhone (Valeo) alt.s usually put
out about 14.7, especially in a 911SC.

Interesting, does it have anything to do with the fact that my regulator is new, and i bought it from pelican? BTW, the voltage is taken from the cigarette lighter.

Gotta really measure the voltage at the battery.

Oh. Maybe the fact that my brake pad warning cable is unplugged has something to do with that. I'm feeling dumber every post. Time to make an addition to the "Dumbest Things You've Ever Done" thread. :) Thanks for all the help, everyone.

Don't be so hard on yourself. DUMB is spending $400 on a new alternator and THEN realizing the error.

And I'm willing to bet that you aren't the only one who's gotten the lights mixed up.

On my '88 I had brake pads without a slot, so I just hooked up the sensor wire and zip-tied it to the cable. Gotta remember to check the pads, though.

"Gotta really measure the voltage at the battery."

And the voltage at the rear on the fuse panel, & at the alt.light. Then make conclusions.

Monster batteries draw/suck down the alt. voltage too. You need to also
measure the charging current INTO the battery.
