I have a 85 911 cab. This is the wide body(baiscly its a 930 chassis with a 911 engine). Well ever since I bought it, I have always heard a weird, almost like a rubber noise from the front suspension when I go down a bump. Example is when I back out of the garage, the little bump you go down to the drive way, you can clearly hear the noise. I am wondering what this can be? The shocks were replaced not to long ago. Any help will be appriciated.

The upper strut bushings are rubber and the new ones may be squeeking from no lube. Could be A-arm bushings also.

The suspension was making this noise even before the new shocks. I am think its the A arm bushings. Is there anyway to know for sure?

Are the bushings factory original rubber?
Rubber bushings don't usually make any noise. But deformed control arm bushings can allow the torsion bar to rub on the ID of the control arm, making a squeaky sound. The solution is to replace the bushings to get the tbars centered up again. Inspect the bars for damage at the friction point, they may be trash. At a minimum they'll need rust protection in this worn area. alternatively, if your car has been switched to polyurethane or delrin bushings, they squeak.
