Another autobody question

Actually 2.

As I had mentioned in an earlier post, after I mig welded some small pieces of 18 gauge sheet metal onto my fender, I noticed some pin holes in my weld. Can those be filled with solder (not sure spelling)? Someone had said to fill with bondo with fiberglass which I can do. I was just wondering if solder would work. Is it more likely to fail than bondo? Also, I have a two part putty that POR sells for filling rot holes. Any preference on solder, bondo or POR putty for my pin holes. Also, I went to the weld supply store near me and the guy didn't sell anything that was used for filling pin holes.

Second, I believe I sanded my fender too much. In two shots there are nickel size light blue spots. Should I just skim coat with bondo and forget about or is there someting else i should do? I will be lightly bondo the area anyways to smooth over my weld job. I got the rot off the fender so all is not bad.

IMO, modern "Bondo" will be fine for the pin holes. Therer's no need to go to the trouble of solder or fiberglass. I think there were a few spot on suggestions offered in you last thread.

Blue spots tell me there was excessive heat. Why do you need bondo? Did you sand the entire fender?

Thanks Rick.

Yes there were some good suggestion in the other one which led me to try and find that welding paste someone had mentioned. Unfortunately I couldn't find it and the solder idea popped into my head last night.

I guess I will just bondo over my weld and call it a day. Rot be gone.

Thanks again for your help.

David
