How to adjust throttle linkage?

The instructions for the Steve W chip suggest that you press the
accelerator to the floor and check to see if throttle body valve is
full open. If not, he says, "adjust and shorten the linkage to make up for the excess slack." However, the throttle linkage under the car (picture in Bentley 240-21) does not seem to have any way to shorten the throttle cable. Furthermore, the factory shop manual (24-2a) says that the actuating linkage at the throttle body should not actually hit the stop when accelerator pedal is fully depressed, but that there should be at least 1 mm clearance at the throttle valve lever (clearance that in Steve W's advice would be "excess slack.")
Any advice?
(I would upload the pictures of the linkage from Bentley and the
throttle valve from factory manual but do not know how to capture and upload parts of a pdf file).

use 7 & 8 mm open end wrenches (they're tiny, OK?) to loosen the nut on the rotating ball head. rotate the ball head to get it just the right length. then tighten with it centered on the ball.

That works on my '73 which has an '86 hotrod engine in it.

YMMV.
