I really would like to see good pics of the flat black.

hkspwrsche 11-01-2004 10:30 AM

I just did a motorcylce for a friend but, I dont have pics. Justin just finished his race car in the thread started by sprbxr. Check that out..flat and mean looking. It was the reason I posted some of the formulas for flat black.

}{arlequin 11-01-2004 11:12 AM

that car looks nice... does that mean that you were the one painting it?

What's the significance of "flat" in relation to "eggshell" and "semi-gloss"?
Does all that go together on the car? Even though it's flat black, does that mean that the car is smooth and not w/ the texture of a grill paint/blackboard?

Beethoven 11-01-2004 11:15 AM

What about rust protection with flat paint? Can it be washed and detailed like other paint?

hkspwrsche 11-01-2004 11:24 AM

No I did NOT paint Justins car which is why I asked to see it in person. I'm sure he did it the right way.
Eggshell has a light sheen. flat has less to no sheen

Here are some pics of my car with recently painted flat black hood. It needs a bath but I think it gives you an idea. Mine, when washed is a bit closer to eggshell than completely flat.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1099343892.jpg

What's wrong with the green??!? :)

911-m5 11-01-2004 12:29 PM

Nothing. I love the green. the paint on the hood was peeling and it had bad road rash. The whole car could use a repaint, but I can't afford it right now.

sprbxr 11-01-2004 12:34 PM

Flat black

Here is the car. It is not really done the right way. It is only DP90 primer at the moment. The real flat paint job is yet to come.

Justin, nice look. I really dig black cars.

I also like the black hood idea. I have bad road rash too but haven't thought of that. Maybe I can find a used fg hood and try it on for size... hmmm (off to the classifieds  )

Justin,
Where did you get the hardner for the DP90?
PPG doesn't make it any more and i got a gallon of primer.
Thx.

project935 11-03-2004 11:07 AM

Justin,
Where did you get the bumper cooling ducts from?

sprbxr 11-03-2004 03:14 PM

They were given to me. I don't know who makes them.
