Post RSR, IROC narrow body pics please

There was an Excellence article about 3 years ago with 2 San Fran area SCs that had been updated to with RSR/IROS narrow body bumpers. I coveted this article, but no longer have it. Can anyone who has updated their car to this look please post some pics and weight loss info here? I may go this route, but haven't decided.

I'd really like to see some cars that have done the complete look, and not just one bumper. Post away!

Cheers,

Sorry, not an IROC but the RUF CRT narrow body with Shaw bumpers. 2400# is easy with a new interior. Weight loss on the bumpers isn't all that much...less than 45# iirc.

The bumpers are a lot lighter, but I'm not sure how much. My car is a 79SC that has had a Carrera motor installed, Carrera front fender oil cooler, rollbar, heavy Recaro SRD seats, removal of the A/C, and addition of fiberglass bumpers/tail. Weight is a little over 2600 pounds. Eventually I would like to ditch the sunroof and get rid of all the heavy undercoating. My bumpers and tail are the narrow body IROC style. I call it the "baby IROC" look. As much as I like the car, if I had known in 1996 that I could backdate to 73RS easily, I probably would have done that instead.

Mike Dayton has a beautiful orange baby IROC. Maybe he'll toss us up a picture. Where are you, Mike?

Another few pictures.........
Here is the "before" picture from my first ever race weekend.

Here's another "after". I love this picture because I'm in front of a car I've seen many times in Better Bodies magazine ads. In reality he's probably lapping me in the race.

Here's a couple of cars that were similar to mine. My car is #286. I cut out the other guys' faces because I did not ask their permission. I think one of these cars may have been featured in Excellence at one time. #34 was a 3.2 liter and #45 was a very tweaked 3.0 liter. Both of them were much faster than me. Seems like #34 got down to a 1:30.xx laptime at WillowSprings.

RDane,
Looks nice, did you fit the bumpers yourself? What was that like?

86 Carrera, much left to do, but so far a Rennspeed fibreglass front and rear IROC style bumpers, and a Rennspeed duck.

sushinav, I had a local shop do my bumpers. Shaw's stuff is very good but it also took several hours to fill and sand it into something I would want on a street car. Several more for them to bolt them on. I use a nerf bar in front and nothing in the rear.

The Arrow Blue car is beautiful!

I have that Excellence article about the two SCs sitting on my shelf. I agree it was a great article. I can send you a copy if that would help out.

Yeah, if you could scan that article, and post it here, that would be sweet.

RPollock, you and I are on similar tracks, but I am behind, and I haven't decided on Arrow, Sea, or Dalmatian blue. Glad to see another fan of blue IROCs. What have you done to your interior and suspension? And how was the fitting of the Renn parts?

Sushinav,

Where to start, so much done, so many ideas to go....

Suspension has been upgraded via shocks, torsion bars, bump kit, lowered, corner balanced. Wold like to put in a strut brace.

Went to 951 8's up front and 9's out back. Rolled front fenders to accomodate 225's, backs are 245's. Now thinking 17's....

Interior is still stock other than a momo wheel to replace the hideous factory 4 spoke, likely winter upgrade will be momo or sparco seats, and an rs style interior.

Exerior work still to be done, H4's, replace mirrors. Probably going to go to white Carrera door decals and repaint the Fuchs white.

No motor work at all. AC has been removed.

In regards to Renn fitment, there was some minor re-working required.

Rick

Oh man, I LOVE that silver SC in the Sept 2001 issue. I love looking at the article so much, it's at the top of the drawer in the "library".
That car belonged to guy named Josh Ofstein who sold it to Pete Stout (editor of Excellence). I recall seeing it on Rennlist for sale awhile back in the low 30's.
Silver w/ Fikse FM10's...the shot of it with the red one in the opening of the article is oh so choice.
One thing I recall is how much $$$$ those guys dropped. Unreal.

I'll take the issue w/ me to work tomorrow to scan, but I'm sure it'll be already posted by the end of the night.

Rick-your 86 is stunning! Any more pics you'd like to share with the class????
