carrera under body swaybar
Just replaced the front swaybar bushings on my 85 cab. From reading the posts I think I set a world record of 1.5 hours start to finish. Didn't need to remove either arm on the front. I used the method on several other posts of jacking up the arms on either side as needed to wiggle the sway bar free. Putting the bar back in was the hardest part. Going in was opposite of removal sliding the bar as far as possible to one side then push like hell to get the other side started. The other difficult part was getting the center brackets to line up. What I did was insert the center bolt there are three on each side then insert the front stud that is pressed into the bracket. I then used a screw driver to align the rear (allen) bolt hole. This hole has a lip that the bracket fits over so once it pops into place things go pretty well. I then tightenen everything up with the pan off. When every thing looked ok I took out the rear allen bolt and the nut off the front and put the pan on. I installed the front nuts first loose then the allen bolts in the rear. I found that things aligned better if I took the jacks out from under the arms to align the brackets.
I can not believe the difference $20.00 worth of bushings can make. The thing is like a totally different car. I can't wait for the last solo II of year to try it out.
