How to Blueprint a 930 Trans..

I have receive a lot of varying quotes on a high performance 930 transaxle and I am just wondering if it would not be more fun to do it myself and document it with photos.

What is involved with blueprinting a 930 trans?
I know I can send the case / shaft to be shortened.
Where do I get specs to compare parts to?

I just have had a lot of different people try to scare me into buying a trans from them because they say that there are people out there who fill them with used parts instead of using new parts in the rebuild.

I think I would sleep better at night if I just built it myself.

Where do you start? With just any used 930 tranny, or is there a better way?

Thanks
Todd

Anyone?

Unless it's the last 2 years of 930, shortening the case isn't advisable.

Because of the flange thickness?

What years ar ok for shortening??

'87 & '88 have enough case material for shortening without "bandaid" addition of case alloy.

Wow, I did not know it was limited to two years??

Thanks for the info...

1989 was the first year of the G50 in the Turbo. The regular 911 got the G50 starting in '87.
