				Windshield in Richmond, Va.

Well, I might need a windshield. I received a 1/2 in star and I'm not sure whether to try and fill or replace. If I need to replace, anyone have a recommendation of who to use? Thanks, Don

Go through LTD glass 804-387-3919. Joe Welton. Over 20 years in the biz and knows the right way to do this stuff. He can handle insurance claims too. Last one he did for me was on the 951 I had but, I going to get him to do the one in this 911 as soon as I can get a chip in it. It's worn from the years but, I havent been "lucky enough" to get a chip in it. Tell him I sent you. He knows me. FYI most of the mobile glass guys dont install in the rain! But, he probably has a shop he works with nearby that he can meet you at. congrats on the new windsheild! (lucky dog)

I think Glen (Krynock)was more last time I checked because he didnt do his own glass. You tell Joe what you want and he'll do it right. I got an oem sekurit and gasket in the 951. Just let him know you want the factory glass. The only way you'd get a bad job most places it when you start asking for a huge discount. Then they have to cut corners. Joe does glass only and knows the best brand and type urethane to use how to prep the windsheild flange, how to not ruin your dash, how to make sure it doesnt leak. If glen sub's his out still I'd be worried the place he uses might send the new guy over to stick the glass in. Some of the guys that have been doing it for 10 years still dont know what to do with these. 20 year old porsche and 20 years of glass under joes belt. He's in business mostly by reputation and has a tiny ad just recently in the yellow pages. Just my opinion.

Thanks Harold, I gave him a call. He is going to give me an estimate so I can decide whether to pay or call my insurance company. I will most likely call my insurance company. Wow, just as I'm typing he called. Price is $293.00. I don't think I'm going to use my insurance.... Don

Harold, Thanks for the way you worded your first response. "I havent been "lucky enough" to get a chip in it. congrats on the new windsheild! (lucky dog)" I was kinda pissed when it happened, but after reading your response, it lifted my spirits by looking on the good side of this situation. Don

Well, I guess I like that crystal clear view from a brand new windshield. Feels like a new car and it's what youre looking through everyday. When they are over 20 years old it's not the same clarity, especially at night. Probably why half of us update our headlights! I'm looking for an excuse to put one in mine but, it needs to be a little more imperative like a chip or a crack. Not just 20 years of wear..... com'on rock chip!

Harold, You can count Joe out on doing your 911. He arrived at 10am today and didn't leave until 2pm. I had to help him get it in. What a pain in the a$$ (my car). Poor guy, luckily he only had two more jobs to do for the rest of the day. I know he needed a few beers when he left here and I would have had a few w/ him if he didn't have to work. Anyway, he was real nice and professional. I would definitely use him again on any of my other cars. To repeat.... I doubt very seriously that he will do another 911 Well, I'm real pleased! Man it so great to have a crystal clear windshield. SWEET!!!! Thanks, Don
