3.2L wiring harness mysteries
I'm in what i hope to be the home stretch of doing a 69 911E to 86 3.2L conversion. At one point i imagined i could do that in 2 months.. 4 months later, i simply laugh at my naive optimism of that bygone time.
I have sorted out all the mechanicals and am now on the electrical. Yet another task I had imaged to be simple, plugging the harness that belongs to the engine into the engine, is turning out to be more of a challenge. I've assembled a page of pics of things i cannot determine how to connect and would appreciate any help and pointers of resolving these issues. http://www.claassen.net/mystery/ thanks!

Most of your questions can be answered on Marc's conversion page here http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/marcesq1/
One note I will make that is Marc didn't use the green red wire which is power from the DME relay to the fuel pump. The way he hooked it up will obviously work just fine, but just be aware there are alternative and perhaps easier ways to do it. That said Pic1 vacuum source for power brakes in the later cars, obviously you need to plug this or you will have a major vacuum leak Pic 2 Hose attached here for emissions, just plug the hole Pic 3 This is wiring that needs integrated to get the motronic system to work, in a nutshell, power from battery, switched 12V power, power out to fuel pump. ground, tach signal, see marc's page or get a copy of the Carrera wiring diagrams Pic4 Small connector plug for altitude sensor you show in pic 5, large black connector, DME relay shown in pic6, yes you have 2 of each Pic 7 Connector for O2 sensor Pic 8 This is a diagnostic plug, doesn't hook to anything unless you have a tester Pic 9 These plugs connect to AFM, throttle switch, idle control motor Pic 10 Two black are the flywheel and ref sensors, white is cylinder head temp sensor Pic 11 Plug used to set idle, you bridge 2 of the connector pins and set idle, removes idle stabilizer from the circut Pic 13 Ground connections, brown is ground, they connect with an 8mm bolt to the left rear intake runner. Arne,
Sounds like you need a set of factory service manuals or a Bentley. Your last pic is an easy one ... all Brown wires are Ground! Those need to be bolted down to a clean stud or bolt through chassis sheet metal in the engine compartment ... or to a stud on the engine crankcase centerline. Your duplicate sets are (1) altitude correction switch, and (2) DME Relay. Your 2nd favorite mystery ... the two identical connectors are the Speed and Rference Sensors, and can't be interchanged if you expect the engine to start! The cables should have tags labeled 'DG' for Speed Sensor and 'BG' for Reference Sensor ... the Speed Sensor cable connector is next to the white connector for the Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor.

Thanks for all the help so far. I've updated the page and resolved most of the issues. Really only a minor nag about cables and then some clearly missing pieces are left
http://www.claassen.net/mystery/ Looks like something is not proper with my throttle body. What's the name of jack that's missing and the complexity of fixing it, so i can decide whether i'll just fix it or try to go back to the seller, since the engine was supposed to be complete and ready to run thanks

i would strongly recomend hooking the green with red strip to the fuel pump supply wire. Ohtherwise you are running the fuel pump through 2 relays and doubling your chance for failure.
Think you have a couple of wires confused, the yellow wire is the start signal from the ignition switch term30 to the DME, the one small black wire is the upshift light that won't apply the other is 12V switched that must be present during cranking that you hook at the fuse box. You can differentiate by the one that needs the switched 12V goes to term 86 of the dme relay socket.

Your figure 9c you are missing the idle contact switch, which is the other connector that the harness goes to by the throttle body
Here is what 9c should look like The other vacuum port on the thermo valve can be blocked off in your application since again it is for an emission device you don't have Todd

Received my copy of the Bentley manual in the mail last night. Should've bought that a while ago.. Just browsing through it confirmed all the answers everyone so kindly provided. That is a well illustrated book.
Ok, i'm armed for a weekened of running wires and such
