959 4 Cam question and Horizontal Fan Shrouds?
Hey you guys, I was just on the Rennsportsystems web-page and a few things caught my eye that I was hoping you could elaborate on...
First... this is a 959 engine right? Is it a 4 cam? Is the design a throwback to the early Fuhrman engines? Are there any others like this? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1099677311.jpg Also, here's a flat-six with a horizontal shroud. I know that some of the early Spyders used horizontal shrouds, but I've never seen one in a 911. I really like the concept and was wondering if any of you have had any exposure to them. Pros, cons, etc. They seem to me like a more effecient cooling system. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1099677474.jpg Thanks! |
Do a search on "horizontal fan" and you'll get lots of info.
Very expensive using original parts ... if they can be found. |
horizontal fan uses up to 35 HP
was used on some 935 variants...provides better , more equal cooling over the 6 cyllinders |
Yes I am pretty darn sure that is a 959 engine. The new water cooled engines also use 4 cams but the 959 was the only air cooled 4cam engine but I believe the heads were water cooled.
