Alcohol and a can of spray paint don't mix......

I guess some of those colored tires would look cool and fast also.

Hmm, not good. doesn't matter, if he ever heats his brakes up that paint will be gone anyway. Of course, he may never get his brakes that hot.

I'm thinking of getting my rotors plated orange/red so they look like on the race cars........

That will sure add some HP to the car.

I believe that you hit the nail on the head. This has been a problem (IMHO) on the Rennlist 944 board for some time now. Unfortunately, the migration to Pelicanparts.com has also started in the last six months or so. Ask me how I know

Well, to be fair, I post on both, and have for quite awhile.

The 944 Pelican board is not inhabited exclusively by braniacs, either.

Paint adds too much weight.

944's are affordable by younger people than 911's. It's much the same on the miata board. There are a bunch of really serious racers, track junkies, and sports car fanatics on the miata board, but there's also a fair amount of kids because they can afford them. At least they are moving the right direction instead of civics and such. And as long as they are doing what they think looks good. Heck, if Mike Z stopped everytime he was doing something he liked that some other crowd didn't think was cool we wouldn't have his Franken356.

Now all we need to do is steer them to the correct path without trying to smash their individualism in the process.

yes, I agree with Steve's opinion on this.

The 944 is also IM(very humble)O a more forgiving car maint. wise (both monetarily and timewise) than a 911. Someone moving from say a Civic to a 944 is already aware that _something_ needs to be done periodically to the timing belt on a car so thats no big deal for them.

Owning and keeping a 911 in good shape can be very hard for the average 18-25 year old, especially a vintage one in need of love.

I see no real distinction between some of the 944 owners on Pelican and some of the 911 owners. If I had the money, I would own a 911. That is the main difference, in many cases.

Please watch where you fling your generalizations.
