Tire help please?

I need the cheapest but best 225/245 x16 combo being offered as a set of spares for the rainy season. Have SO3s and love them but will soon need replacing. @ $800 I was thinking some summer tires to replace them. What is out there worth buying that you can drive at 130mph safely and not loose your ass in normal rain at more reasonable speeds?

Those S03's are rated real well for rain. Yeah they're spendy but they're not just a summer tire, in my view. But, I don't plan on driving in snow. For that, I'd get a set of cheap wheels and snow tires.

Oh, and ummmmm.....too much pressure too frequently on the right side pedal contributes to tire wear.

If you want cheap then check out the Fuzions. They are $350/set at tirerack.com. My understanding is that they are rebadged Bridgestone RE750s ($500/set) that are being marketed to the import crowd.

Thanks guys.

Jim, a new engine isn't all that good of an idea
I was thinking somehting more exotoc that SO3s next time and just wanted to get through the winter with something else on other wheels.

Couple of questions:

Are the Yoko AVS 100s as wide as they advertise? 9.4" on the 245x45x16!

750s are great tires and one I was looking at.
Ran a pair last year and liek them a lot.
Are the Fuzions really a 750? They are 8.6 "in a 245!

Any one run the KDWs and are they wider than they claim? 7.9" in a 245. Seems they were but can't rember form my last pair.

I don't know if they are exactly the same as the 750s but I did read that somewhere. The specs are almost the same and they are manufactured by Bridgestone. The reviews on tirerack are good.

I have the YOKO AVS ES100's on my 83 SC in 205/55x16 and 245/45x16 and love them for a little over $400.00 mounted, balanced and metal valve stems. They ride quiet, grip very well and look great.

The Yokos have the pertfect sizes that I have been running but also get the worst ratings of the bunch on Tire rack.

I have used 750s and SO3s both which I like.

Are the 245 Yokos really 9.4" on the tread?

I just measured my 245/45x16 Yoko AVE ES100'S on 8 inch Fuchs and it looks like actual traed width that hits the pavement is 9 inches.

check out this site. They have a variety of tires at great prices. I have the GT Radials on my P- car and they have a great tire tread for rain. Got 40,000 out of the last set I had on my 78 Sc Targa.
