Question Grand Prix White?

Is it me?

4 years ago when i caught this affliction and took the plunge, there were certain must haves the intended purchase had to have aside from general condition etc these were -

G50 gearbox
Leather
Wing on the back
and black it had to be black or dark grey definately not white or red.

As usual reality is never that simple and i ended up with all the above except in white.

Still untill recently i still wished for a black one, but now 4 years later i actually prefer the white, i think is is becase the car has moved into "classic" status due to its age and kinda suits its 80's white and black bumpers (fenders) bellows etc

is it just me?

God no!

GP White could be called one of the 'pure' hues:

You also gotta smile when its 90+ degrees out and that white is reflecting heat instead of absorbing it.

Mike: have you ever posted pics of your ride? If not, move it or suffer the wrath of the Pelicans!

There's just something about classic white . . .

Sorry, no glamour shots yet (and needs ride height adjustment).

I also was not looking for white when I bought my GP white 85 cab. It is still not my favorite color, but I have come to appreciate its positives. The car does look good in white with the black trim and it is a pure color with definite visual impact. The white hides minor paint imperfections, and oddly enough, of course, it hides dirt better than black.

When I first decided I wanted a 911 white was the last color on my list. Black was first followed by silver, blue, etc. I then saw a GP white 911 in person and I totally changed my mind. I realized that white cars in photos tend to be "washed out" more easily but when seeing them in person WOW.

I didn't want white either but thats what I got. Finding an SC with a 3.2 transplant was too good to pass up. I have since come to appreciate it for its historical reference to the early days of racing in Europe. Back then, cars were painted based on there country of origin. French cars were Blue, Italian was red, and German cars were white. My car is 95% dedicated to the track, so its nice to have it in its proper racing color.

I've always thought of white on a 911 as somewhat "stealthy" on the road. Definitely not flashy. Also not my first color choice, but I have definitely grown to appreciate our GP White C4. As does my wife: It is actually her car and she tracks it as well.

I sought out a Grand Prix White car exclusively. Everyone wants or has a red or black. I had both colors on non pcars previously and while nice, wasn't interested in another. White looks great and isn't as hot as the darker colors. Stays clean looking longer and hides a lot of imperfections. My paint is original and looks absolutely superb!!!

I wanted a black coupe without a spoiler. I ended up with GP white with a spoiler. I have since removed the Turbo tail (which is for sale - cheap plug!). I decided that the most important thing was to find a car that had been well cared for and was in good shape. Color was incidental. I have to say, the GP white is growing on me.

I ended up with GP white. It was the right car and the color wasn't too bad at the time. But its grown on me. I love the fact that it doesn't show imperfections very easily and it cleans up really well. The front valence and rocker panels tend to attract quite a bit of scum...

I like mine.
I since fixed the spoiler. I live on a dirt road, so the dirt-hiding properties of white are much appreciated.

Jpinkert,

What wheels are those?

I'll admit I'm not currently looking for a GP White car but all the cars here are very nice...It's growing on me (slowly).
