Getting there......

Well my 72 project is getting there hopefully soon then later.
Rugby season as taken it's toll with out of town games, and this weekend is more of the same.
But I hope to have the fuel lines done and start the engine this weekend.

1.This is were ya'll come in, Can someone post some pics of the fuel lines as they come out of and in to the tunnel. I what to make sure that they are correct when I install them.

2. Can you take a Pic of the Starter and were the cable is connected to the starter, there are two sides and they look the same. I am hoping a pic will show the proper placement.

3. If anyone has done the single battery change over ,post some pics of the setup. I need to build a mount for the AC box and look at how it is ran.

4. As always I will cook up some Gumbo or Red beans
if anyone what's to make the trip to Fairhope. I must say I am from N.O. and poeple write songs about my Gumbo.

Thank for the help

And here are some pics
My DC broke so I don't have any new ones with the seats in.

73.5 911T starter wiring hook up.

Later this weekend I'll scan the factory parts catalog fuel line diagram for a '72 911 with MFI (is that what you have?) and post it.

We went back to the 2-battery arrangement so I can't help you with a conversion to a single battery. Jim

Jim,
Thanks again, I do have the 72 Car, but the engine is a 73 MFI
So everything is the same.

Looking at that , It looks alike the power cable is ran on top of the engine.
On mine it comes out from the tunnel Then goes to the starter.
Am I looking at mine the right way?

I going out there right now to look again

Thanks for the help Jim

Please note that the above starter image is from an engine/transmission ready to be installed. The main hot power will come from a heavy gage black cable that indeed comes from the tunnel area. The terminal lug of this black cable connects to the terminal also mounting the heavier red wire. The heavier red wire goes through the engine wiring harness to the B+ terminal connection of the alternator (under the shroud). Your car will likely only have one of the yellow wires on the starter; the 73.5T CIS had a second yellow wire that was part of the CIS cold start valve circuit (CSV) which your engine and car do not have. Cheers, Jim

Jim,
I just went out there and looked, My set up looks just like yours.
So were do the large power cable hook up?

There are two bolts on the starter, Bolt "A" has the red lead already connected.

Then Bolt "B" has no wires connected, but a short wire the connect right back in to the starter it has no insalation

In between both "A" and "B" is a smaller gauge yellow wire like yours

Last time I hooked up a battery on this car I melted the top of the battery. I did know that the car had a two battery system .

Thanks
Derek

One can see the black main power cable to the starter in the above image (next to the other two harness sections retained by the yellow clips); it has a bit of grey shrink tubing on it which we added to repair the outer scuff layer of insulation. Jim

The terminal lug of the black cable connects to the terminal also mounting the heavier red wire; the one you're calling "A".

The above figures are for 72&73 MFI, however the last two figures are also used for the CIS and carburetor systems, sometimes with a change in part numbers. Jim
