CIS question
Ive got a 73.5 model that the previous owner did who knows what to. First off the case is a 72 case but it obviously has the CIS installed so I really don't know what I have. Anyway the main question I have today is the Acumulator has a fitting on the bottom that goes to a T in the line. I purchased a 73.5 bracket with a acumulator and filter and of coarse it looks nothing like I have.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1099849776.jpg
Here is where it goes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1099849843.jpg Is this the setup for a later model or what? The car runs fine but If I need parts in the future Id like to get the right ones. Is there any difference with the CIS from one year to the next? |
I can't see very well the extra line that goes to the fuel accumulator. But I am thinking that the car might have had an MFI before and the plumbing is a bit different.
There is thread here where they show the details of the MFI Fuel filter and the there are four connections to the filter. You can see it here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=163347&highlight=fuel+t ee. |
You definitely have a "Franken fuel system" The original 73.5 CIS system accumulator doesn't have a third (drain) line in it. There are differences from year to year on the CIS systems so parts can't just be "willy nilly" interchanged. Some of the parts can be though and there is significant commonality between the 1973.5 and 1974 CIS systems. See this link for images that show the 73.5 T CIS accumulator/fuel filter console in the original configuration. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/190639-oh-no-fuel-garage-floor.html

Yours looks like my '74 hose setup.

I have one of those setups as well!
My early 76 had the third line, but someone had JB welded (!!!) it shut! The other 76 core engine I am rebuilding does not have that third line and I got the accumulator with it. I had always wondered where it went because my accumulator had obviously been replaced. Also something that may or may not be of consequence or interest, my setup has all black plastic lines with no clamps. |
