Sunroof Seals - 85 Carrera
I'm hoping to replace the sunroof panel this week.
My question relates to the seals - despite all I have read - As far as I can remember - when removing the sunroof panel - both the velvet seals were attached to the roof panel and the rubber flexi seal was attached to the rear of the sunroof panel! My car is an 85 Carrera - is this model different or are my memories of stripping the sunroof wrong. Basically whats the seal layout on this model. Photos would be appreciated! Cheers Rob Justice |

I have my '85 outside. If you don't have an answer by noon EST I'll see if someone here has a Dig camera and post pics.

felt sunroof seals
some info there. the front seal, the longer of the two attaches to the body, the rear, shorter attaches to the sunroof. read my post on removal of the 1st inch or two of the nylon center. it worked great ton get them to seat when closed. careful with the glue application.. good luck.

k911sc - wondering if the fitting layout of the seals differs from Carrera's and SC's? Even though the part No's are the same.

I've just got this idea in my head that the seals were the same set-up as a VW Beetle - with both the felt seals being attached to the roof panel - the longer seal running around the front and side inner roof lips and the rear seal attaching to the underside of the roof skin.
The rubber seal attaching to the rear of the sunroof lid. |

Yes, on Carrera's also. Front longer seal on body, shorter on sunroof panel. Just did this on mine not too long ago.

Rob
When I replaced mine I was sure they were both on the panel itself. This is how I replaced them only to find that they should be as Rick posted. Doesn't seem to have been detrimental however.

Glasgow - what your saying seems to tie up with what I'm sure was on mine.

I think mine may have been replaced (wrongly) at some point. I've just continued the tradition
