Clutch Stop part
Anyone have a part number or know if this can be fixed. I know I'm missing the rubber piece. Got to digging in the floor board last night and it looks like the former owner left it this way for some time. The floor board is even cracked on the left side where they tried to push it through the floor.

mine is missing too, so I am gonna bump this up.
if we can't find this item, we'll have to look for a piece of real thick rubber and then cut it to fit |
I've ordered and received these; both the bracket and the replaceable rubber stop. I'll look up and post the part numbers tonight if someone else doesn't do it first. Jim

Good to hear. I'm assuming its the '74 you mentioned you'd reconstructed. Of course, at UCD he will have to run it on PV panels, or bio-fuels....

Yep, if one has the stop it may be worthwhile carefully reshaping it to hold the rubber bumper; it appears the bumper slips out and then that section of the stop becomes mashed by the pedal arm.

This is an old thread, but I just finished rebuilding my '82 SC driver's floorboard, which was cracked at the clutch pedal opening, broken at both tabs at the top and delaminated in many places. It was also missing the rubber clutch stop. In effect, the floorboard was holding up the carpet and doing little else in terms of performance.
I used laminating epoxy to re-glue the plywood floorboard in its weak spots, and to mount two new plywood tabs to the top section so it would mount correctly. To further reinforce the floorboard, I fiberglassed both sides with 4 or 5 oz. cloth (the type you get at the auto parts store) and laminating epoxy. This takes time, but the end result is a very strong floorboard. For the missing rubber clutch pedal stop part, I cut a piece from a rubber plug from Home Depot (cost: $2.50) using a fine-bladed coping saw. This piece is just slightly wider than the metal bracket. Using a screwdriver, the new rubber stop presses into the travel-adjustment bracket. Some work with a Dremel sanding drum finished the shaping of the rubber stop. The end result: My clutch travel is dead-on and my floorboard is good to go for many, many miles. It's fun being cheap. |
