Jacking up a 911

I may be under the misguided impression that jacking up a 911 by the front two tires or the back two tires will case stress on the undercarriage and cause bending?
Have the 101 Projects book but still wondering.
Thoughts...

At the jacking points?

Coral Red Syd 11-09-2004 08:05 AM

Yes, by the jack points. I have in my head that if I jack the car up by the front two jack points at once or the rear points at once that the 'frame' will bend? That the car must be lifted by all four at one time.... Otherwise the middle jack point for short durations i.e. emergency tire changes.

Thanks

There's no "frame" on these cars. Its a unibody. I understand what you are thinking but don't worry. If the car is stressed by just jacking it up, there are more serious issues at hand. Like a LOT of rust or previous damage that weakens the car as a whole.

Jack away and be free, my brother!

:D

CRS: When you jack it up the first time, note the creaking sound the targa makes. A little upsetting at first!
