commuted with the 911 for the first time today!

i have a work truck, so the need rarely arises. today, i blasted to work in the SC. talk about making the day way more enjoyable. no troubles parking, because i am in construction, even south of market SAN FRANCISCO. going to work and commuting home was so fun. traffic was mysteriously light in both directions! what a day! here are some pictures.::::

got to agree!

I do it regularily with me son in the seat beside me.

Its fun zipping through traffic.

It also gives more people a chance to see and appreciate older Porsches. I love getting the thumbs up, especially from the pedestrians on their way to their commutter trains.

I just had flashbacks to Tim Taylor dropping the 30 ton beam on his wifes red Chevy Nomad station wagon. Keep that nice ride of yours out of harms way.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I used to work on heavy equipment in a previous life.

So did your crew give you ***** about your "100k" car? Your car looks great.

I moved out of the Bay Area about 10 years ago and haven't been back lately, what are you working on there?

Cool

Once in a great while, I drive the targa, sans top, to work. My fellow co-workers save a spot for me.

After the normal comments, they seem to ask a lot of questions.

Since I started using mine as my daily driver, even Monday mornings aren't so hard to deal

When you start and end the day with a quick little 30 minute drive, work ends up being just another reason to go for a ride!

Three blocks from my house.
You must be helping with the new freeway extension.
Careful driving on Page, Oak, Fell and Gough. The construction has mangled the roads in that area.

I used to use my '88 everyday. When you aren't in stop and go it's amazing. When I would get stuck in the occasional stop and go it was agony. Not because it was hard to drive but because the car wanted to do much more "go" than "stop".

below was the only time i feared for my car: a crazed homeless guy took a liking to it. haha. he was harmless, although i saw him mumbling to his penis.

the great state of california is building the city of san fran a new off ramp. it will drop off to a high end boulevard. (octavia). it is actually a load of crap. i have worked on that bridge 3 times. when i got hired, we spent 20 mil to retrofit it for the major e-quake. then one year ago the state paid 10mil to tear it down, because that is how the people voted. now we are building the final portion to give the commuters an out. what a waste of money. but oh well, we all know how crazy people can vote!!! i am having a blast actually. when we are done, i am gonna park my car up there before the guardrail go up and take a cool picture at the EDGE. then i hope to speed down it unhindered.

bento, which is your car? i have been seeing a ton of 911's lately.

What a gorgeous SC. Looks new! Are those rear and side windows tinted? I don't recall seeing stone guards on an SC before either? They really set off the white paint.

Nice white/black contrast on your car---very clean.
I drive my '86 to work about once/wk. Mainly to stretch it's legs, and get it out. Yes, makes the commute much more enjoyable.
