Question on installing shift shaft seals?

I'm ready to install a new shift shaft seal and the output shaft seals (cv flange) .Do I install them dry? Or should I use a lube or a sealant of some type?

Thanks
Rick

i am sure on the shift shaft seal that you should use a light coat of non-hardening rtv sealant (black silicone is good) on the outer edge of the seal when installing it. I would assume that the CV seals are the same.

light coating of oil on the sealing lip - thats all

I used oil also. Be sure to clean the sealing surface and ensure it is smooth.

Tap the seals in carefully and don't let them get tilted.

just to clarify, when I said outer edge I meant the metal part that contacts the trans housing.
