911 CAT question(s)
So ,I finally started getting the motor out in preparation of the full re-paint. I identified the turbo as a Turbonetics T04 .96 which will be going for a re-build and got a chance to check out the rest of the exhaust. It seems to be an original CAT but it's straight through ? ie. it seems to have a solid 2" or so pipe welded in ,when you look in towards the collector there's no baffles, holes or anything is this normal ? also, there's no O2 sensor in it ?.I've tried calling Protosport with questions but they were very vague about everything and suggested I bring it to them to check everything out (understandable), any thoughts ?
thanks, Sam. |
Any original cat would have an O2 sensor bung.....
You might have a Euro-spec pre muffler but this has a perforated plate co-axial inside...otherwise straight through. Would have a 930 XXX or 911 XXX part number stamped somewhere on the body if it's a pre-muff. Pics? Wil |
Post a photo, but you might have a CAT that has been hollowed out and the bung replaced or a piece manufactured to resemble a CAT.

part # 930 113 230 08 1X83
is this a Euro ?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1100132338.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1100132378.jpg |
Notice it has the bracket for the wastegate.....
and here's the turbo http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1100132484.jpg |
The first picture along its length you can see the "test port nipple" to attach the instrument that checks the effectiveness of the catalyst action ( what is this called?...CO wand?).
With that...I'd say it's a hollowed out cat. How 'bout someone running a PET against the number? Wil |
