Ok here it is When I turn the key the controls in the engine bay whine , and the fuel pump comes on. But the Starter will not kick in , where do I start? Also I think I need a new headlight switch when I turn it on the right side runing lights come on , and the left head lights . what do ya'll think? Thanks for the help Derek Here is the project. http://www.356-911.com/911restogallery/derekoxford911.htm Jim, What do you think? |
can you jump the silly thing on top of the starter??if that works you have a bad one.....But 1st always start with a charged batt. with clean conections (no guess work here)
|
Can't help you with the starter, but the left and right lights are on separate fused circuts. I'd say you're experiencing resistance on the left side, probably as a result of a dirty/corroded fuse contact.

define kick in?
does it click at all? do the lights dim when the starter position on the ign. switch id engaged? |
Randy,
does it click at all?=No do the lights dim when the starter position on the ign. switch id engaged?=No I do have a brand new battery and new connections |
Measure the batt. voltage just to be sure it is 13.8 V or so.
If so, you have a bad solenoid - assuming that power is getting to it. You can measure voltage to gnd at the wire from the ign. switch to the starter. You'll have to crawl up under there - it's a lot easier on a lift, and a lot harder on cold wet mud.... Do a search and that will help you get oriented before going underneath. |
Do you read the voltage at the yellow wire?
on the starter? how do you check if the Solenoid is bad? I just what ot make sure that I have every thing hooked up ok. I don't want to think the solenoid is bad, if I did something wrong. Is there any way to check to see if I gettting what I need to there? The starter worked fine when I pulled the engine. Thanks Derek |
Can you test across the coil /solenoid to see if it is open?
|
Also can you just tap them like American starters?
