SF Bay Area: Porsche Races at Sonoma Raceway October 27-28

The SF Bay Area Porsche Racing Club (PRC Racing – A Porsche Racing Club) is pleased to announce that its 17th Annual "Porsches at the Point" racing event will take place at Sonoma Raceway, October 27th and 28th. The event is sponsored by Fred’s Place in Mountain View in memory of Jay Jarvis, long term PRC Technical Steward and Porsche racing enthusiast. Fred’s Place has been a sponsor of the PRC for over a decade (FRED'S PLACE).

The event will be held as part of a National Auto Sport Association (NASA) weekend, and will include:

A Porsche Racing Club (PRC) race group.

A Porsche Club Of America (PCA) Club Racing Group, hosted by the Porsche Club of America Golden Gate Region.

Mixed-marque NASA High Performance Driver's Education and Time Trial groups, which are Porsche-friendly for those with the required amount of track driving experience and properly prepped cars.

Even if you cannot drive or race, come on out and watch! Spectators will see some great racing and some very well developed Porsche racing cars.

“This event features two Porsche racing groups for the first time in many years. We are looking forward to one of our best season closers in a long time,” noted Michael Cullinan, President of the SF Bay Area Porsche Racing Club.

He added, “We are particularly excited about sharing the paddock with the PCA racing group since we share a common love for the cars and the competition.”

Spectators should note that Saturday’s Porsche racing action will take place in the early to middle part of the day. The preliminary schedule has both Porsche racing groups completing warm up and qualifying sessions by mid-morning on Saturday. At the time of this writing, the PRC race is scheduled for 11:05 am Saturday morning, and the PCA Club race is scheduled for 1:10 pm.

On Sunday, both groups have races scheduled for mid-afternoon. Please check the NASA web site (www.nasaproracing.com; event #2832) for schedule updates.

About the Porsche Racing Club (PRC)
The PRC participates in a series of high quality racing events that are both competitive and fun. GT and Stock/Production classes are similar to those used in the Porsche Club of America's Club Racing program. In addition, the PRC includes features three "specification" classes for Porsche 911 racing cars: Spec 911, GTU and GTL.

Introduced during the inaugural PRC season in 2002, the Spec 911 Class is structured for Porsche 911 racing cars with 2.7, 3.0 and 3.2 liter engines, and allows a limited range of modifications.

The GTU class was launched at the beginning of the 2018 season and is intended to be less restrictive and offer greater performance than Spec 911, while still including several time tested cost-containment attributes.

The PRC GTL class provides a somewhat cost-reduced, competitive specification for 911 and 914 GT cars with modifications that are beyond the scope of the Spec 911 and GTU.

2018 PRC sponsors include:

Guard Transmission (Guard Transmission |), Fred’s Place (FRED'S PLACE), Wine Country Motorsports (winecountrymotorsports.com), Jerry Woods Motorsports (www.jwemotorsports.com), Reno Rennsport (renorennsport.com), De Jung Motorsport (dejungmotorsport.com), Thomas Merrill Motorsport (thomasmerrillms.com), Karen’s Bakery and Café (Karens Bakery and Café Folsom), Smart Racing Products (Align Your Car With SmartStrings, SmartCamber | Smart Racing Products), Merrill Farms LLC (Merrill Farms), Warm Things (warmthingsonline.com), Parkside Tap House (www.parksidetaphouse.com), Novato Oaks Inn (www.novatooaksinn.com), Fennemore Craig, P.C. (www.fclaw.com), Cullinan Appraisal and Realty, Rind Raja Picture Company (www.rind-raja.com), Van Gelder Construction (Van Gelder Construction, Sacramento and Davis California), and Blue Diamond Almonds.

Would be great to see you. Note again that the races for both PRC and PCA are midday on Saturday. We will have a meeting to discuss 2019 rules, et cetera mid-afternoon.

Then we will have our annual PRC P@P dinner in the paddock Saturday night. You may need to contact Michael or Karen to get a dinner ticket.
