Is this the best of the rest?
Looking to own an original early 77' 911s with 80k from new. Researching the threads the 2.7 motor seems to have survived the odds so far but will probably need a rebuild at any time. (although all seems fine). Interested to know the most miles a 2.7 has managed before major surgery required. Is there a grandaddy of all grandaddy's out there?

Never confuse the USA 2.7 motors from '74-'77 with the 2.7 RS motors... I've heard of some USA 2.7's living remarkably long lives, while others fry quickly.

Thanks. This is a 2.7 in a Euro Lux registered in January 77 in UK.

The 2.7L survived just fine in Euro models, and can be long-lived in the US if the weaknesses are fixed before they create problems.

The previous owners and I only got about 110,000 mi out of my old, untouched 77 2.7 before it began to look like a crop duster.
