I can't drive 55.......

Here's a strange one...I've searched the 'idle' threads but this one doesn't come up......

I can pussy foot all day long in my 82 SC and it will idle perfectly....but if I'm in the mood for speed (which is most of the time) and start high revving around town I lose my idle characteristics and the surging deteriorates into a dead stall at stoplights....Temp guage stays low in both circumstances....am I overloading my O2 sensor????

TIA

I'm very new to p-cars, but have had some of the same issues, have you checked the decel valve?

If you are surging and the temps stay low, then it could also be your mixture is too rich. This could be due to a bad O2 sensor, or simply the setting. If you think the sensor is OK try leaning in 1/16 turn increments and see if it improves. If it doesn't set it back and look elsewhere.
