Bought the race prepped Carrera
I got the car! I had the PPI done on the track prepped '87 Carrera, and the results were good. The car just needed a new cam oil line, a larger battery, motor mounts and a major tune. The car has 55k miles and looks and drives like it.
I reached an agreement with the owner and I pick it up on Wednesday. This picture is from his ad, I will post some others as soon as I get it. I am sure I will have a lot of questions, but thanks for all your advice so far. This site is just a great resource. Regards, rickdm |

Very nice, reminds me of mine.
Other than being lowered how is it race prepped?

Stock seats. Maybe a sunroof line. But are those little bumperettes on the rear? Hmmm....

Let me list some of the things the owner listed;
Sport Bilsteins Hi-Rate torsion bars Cambermeister strut tower brace Adjustable anti-sway bars Turbo tie rods Bump steer kit 928 S4 calipers front 930 Turbo calipers rear Brake pressure bias control Ruf muffler Brake cooling kit Rool bar 5 point harness Some chip (?) SS Synchros This is what I have seen so far. The engine seems pretty much stock, the transmission has the synchros, upgraded clutch, and a higher 2nd gear. The car has just had the front suspension rebuilt and it has been raised about 1/2" from what appears in the picture. It drives very nicely with no harshness, but I will have to wait till I get it onto the track to see how it all works. rickdm |

Sounds like a good list, sensible stuff, so it doesn't sound like he was someone with more money than sense.
Sounds good. I'll trade ya, that for my miata ![]()

Wednesday..... oh my gawd, you'll go crazy waiting
Congrats, these are the best of the "mid year" cars in my opinion, you'll love it on both street and trackYou may want to check this thread regarding the Weltmeister. How to modify a weltmeister strut bar so it is "right".

Bill, I hope to be out at a few DE's next year. This is Randy's car, and a fellow worker, Bob Kuykendal, told me he heard that he was thinking of selling it, so I had been talking to Randy for a couple of weeks before he posted it. Bob just wanted another playmate at the track, and man did he rope me in
I took the Skip Barber three day racing school at Laguna Seca this Fall, and somehow I knew it was going to cost me a new car.Thanks, rickdm
