Just bought mine form a German company on e-Bay. They were one of the few companies that had the original, german velore, material and the price was a couple hundred dollars cheaper then anyone else I found. No one else bid on the carpet and it arrived exactly as advertised

AFIK, no one has put together a really good list of carpet styles, quality and application. I'll start only to expect some improvement by others that know their carpet.

Squareweave: Older 356 and VW looped carpet of high quality that has a mini checkerborad look. Also used on early 911s

Perlon: Thinner, more felt like, better than trunk carpet, but of the same varity.

Velour: A factory plush, thick and soft cut pile. Expensive and a factory option. Lots of real wool.

Wool Wilton or Haargarn: A high quality cut loop made from wool and synthetics.

Silverknit: Similar to Haargarn, used today.

Domestic Cut Pile: Not a loop carpet (which has a nubby appearance), but where the loops are cut for a butch haircut look. Usually all synthetic and not as much per square inch count as imported carpet.

Please make your corrections to the list.

Is it sil verknit or sli verkint? I see both various places.

And which of the above is the black and silvery looking fibers that looks gray from a distance?

Also, can we say that certain ones are cheapo and others always a premium carpet?

Doesn't our host sell carpeting for our cars.

Well, yes, as a matter of fact. But liminted choices.

This didn't get very far. I think I'm wrong on at least one item. The later early 911's had a loop style carpet. Pretty rugged stuff.

Might do better on Early 911S forum. A lot of the folks here are carpet ripper-outers.
