73 911 trunk handle broke

The 'T" pull handle for opening the enging compartment broke on my 73 911 E. How is it replaced? I don't see how it dissconnects from the cable.

I have seen replacement handles from differnet vendors but don't understand how the old ones will come off and the new one's go on.

Many Thanks,

Chris

It screws on to the end of the cable. I believe there should also be a nut there after the T handle to adjust how far it threads onto the cable.
