996 GT3 Racing Headers? Hi, I have a mate who's building up a 996 GT3 track car  He's looking for some nice racing headers/exhaust system for it. Who sells quality race headers for GT3's? |
S Car Go racing. They make some really nice headers. I think they are also sold by Smart Racing Products. Check out their sites, mucho dinero! |
Yup S-car-go for the headers. http://www.europipe.be Europipe seems the be the most highly esteemed for the remaining exhaust. |
Thanks guys! DAMN the 996 exhausts are expensive! OUCH! Very minimal gains too, it seems  |

Hard to see N/A gains as impressive when you are around forced induction so much. Especially with a price/hp comparison. Tell your friend to come to Houston and I can make him a nice set of headers. ;) |
Let's see.....and the price is not ridiculous for nice exhaust on ANY 911? With marginal gains for all? For the $2K I spent on headers and muffler for my '84, I can buy a lot of performance in an American V8. Of course for the $1K I spent on my new ducktail and getting it painted is strictly for my eyeballs, so this MUST be a sickness. But, I wouldn't change it for the world.;) |

Hard to resist the eye candy appeal of nicely fabricated headers as well. I could stare at mine all day long: http://www.autologicinc.com/images/p...n/DSC_0185.jpg |

you are a mean man princeton! hell hath no fury like twin turbo's, as much as I love em my engine is slowly coming together as an NA unit. I could always start sellin drugs at usc and ucla and then go out and get a couple carrera gt's and turbo one of those........ok i have more homework to attend to now. |
Yo Princeton, are you TT'ing your 993? WHOA! Keep us posted on progress! |

Sorry, I didn't see any of them. I am really interested in your project. I have a friend who's contemplating the same conversion, as will I later next year (just waiting for 993 prices to drop more). What are you doing to the engine internals to make it more "boost friendly"? |

Don't think anyone has gone all out with the components and left the engine alone yet. ;) I'm probably just insane. I'll build the engine to realize the full potential of the turbo system later on. |
oh cmon youve got all that awesome stuff, motec, turbos, headers, IC and so on and your gonna leave the internals stock? man we should just combine the internals that im buying with all your turbo goodies! |
wydryd. Back to your question. Is your friend building this car on an existing GT3? Is the engine out of a GT3? Just curious because I have heard stories of stock showroom GT3's putting 400 at the rear wheels. Will this car see dual duty, street/track? A set of headers is only beneficial if compression is raised, heads opened up and ECU reprogrammed. The existing headers are setup to work with a stock motor extremely well, changing them to racing headers without modding the rest of the engine is a waste of money. If he really wants to open that engine up, swap in some racier cams, work the heads a little, maybe raise compression and then bolt on the headers. Shoot, do it all, throw on some ITB's to boot. |

End goal is to try and get as close to 800 hp as possible. This is after I build the engine of course. |
800 sounds reasonable depending on what kind of turbo's and intercooler setup your running provided that all the internals have been built to match your turbo and cam setup. I vote for water to air intercoolers! Oh and maybe alcohol injection, methanol? |

It's all in the ECU programming, and of course, efficient intercooling. Those nice twin plugged heads & knock sensing would also offer some safety margin ;) Have a look at their various Stages for the 993 at this URL. Good luck and keep us posted :) Quote:

poorbOyw, The road to 800hp passes through your checking account!!! Nice setup!! |
You guys are going to need to start the "Texas Twin Turbo" branch of PCA or something. Truly sick. |
Merv- Yep. :D I wanna see what I can make with my components and .45 bar. My stuff is a bit more extreme than the bolt on kit approach so hopefully I'll see a little more hp and tq. Amac- Thanks. Unfortunately my checking account is nowhere near the size of yours. ;) |
