225/50 on 15x7 at the rear of a narrow body?

Is this possible??

I've searched the archives, but couldn't find any hard data. I'm sure it would require some tweaking of camber and ride height, but...

I'll have 205/55 for the fronts (which fit like a glove), but who's running 225/50s on the back a narrow body 911?

dd74, perhaps? You're always pushing the limits, man... what size rears were you running before you upgraded to 8s and subsequent flares?

I ran 225/50-15s on 7x15 Cookie Cutters on the rear of my '76. I rolled the fender lips and ran a modest amount of negative camber (maybe a degree, tops) and they fit fine. No rubbing at all.

Every car is a little different, so it would be nice to find someone that has these and do a "test fit", but your chances should be pretty good.

Adam, I did the same on a '77, with Pilot Sport Cups. I had to roll the fenders, but only because of turn 12 at Road Altanta.

Normal street driving would have been OK. My ride height is euro spec, but have 29 tbars on the back, less than 1% neg camber.

Watch out which tire you buy though. The MPSCs are narrow compared to Hoosiers which would not even come close.

I can barely fit 225/50/15 on 7's without rolling the rear fender lips. I'm able to do this with Toyo T1-S tires, but not with Toyo's RA-1s. The RA-1 shoulder is a bit more squared off and this makes them hard to fit. I don't know what my camber is at the moment, and I might possibly be able to increase it a bit to improve the fit. BTW, my rear t-bars are 26mm (for now!).

HI,

My '72S would not fit stock 7" rear wheels. I used the revolution 7" wheels with 1/4" spacers to bring it to the stock 6: offset. Then it was close to the spring plate nuts but did not rub the Fenders.

When I got a flat, I put on some stock 7 x 16" rims with 205s and the rear fender paint got blistered when I accelerated up a hill

I've installed 15x8s in the rear of my '73 w/ a 215/50 Kumho Ecsta 711 street tire. I guess that it *may* be different from car to car, b/c it is a really close fit w/ the 215/50. (Sorry, no pics for now.)

From my own attempt w, 215's, I can tell that I would need heavy fender rolling, plus pulling them out a bit, (which would be basically flaring and thus negating the narrowbody) to fit 225/50. I would probably also need plenty of neg camber, too much for my comfort for a street tire.

I will be rolling my fenders and if someone around my area has 225/50 on 15x8's I'll try it on, but I doubt they will fit. I'll post updates as I progress.

Are your wheels painted glossy or mat black?

You have a 245 on the rear of a narrow-body, unflared 911?

Can you post some more details of this setup?

fit on my 1974 prior to flares. I ran them with 15x7 fuchs replicas no problem.

I have a set of Yoko A008RS for sale if interested. They have Very little wear on them.

Steve, I think you want alfizzo to post a pic. me too!

Slow911, I really like your car! I saw a picture posted somewhere else, maybe from the karting day, and I was going to ask who it belonged to.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys. It's good to know that it can be done on certain cars, though build variances mean that what works for one, won't work for all. I can run 205/55 on 15x7 Fuchs all round without issues, on lowered suspension, so I'll give it a try anyway.

I can fit 225/45/15's on the rear of my car on either 15x7 Fuchs or 15x9 Gottis with no flares and without rolling.

you could run plenty more camber in the rear, maybe even fit 8"s back there.

Yes this is from the karting day

Michigan Mat...you think I could get 8's on my car....hummmmm I just happen to have a pair of 8's, sounds like something to try while I'm bored this winter and have gotten tired of sitting in the car listening to the Porsche CD of engine sounds....beats going vrooom vroom.
