Engine compartment insulation between firewall and shock mount bar?
I pulled out this foam stuff that's between the firewall and the shock mount bar in the engine compartment. It goes in the gap where all the wires and hoses enter the engine compartment. I couldn't find it on the Pelican site so I called them and they couldn't find it either. I though about Great Stuff foam, but this foam would need to be removed to pull out wires or hoses and Great Stuff is pretty permanant. Does anyone know where to get this stuff or know of a good substitute?

just soak some stiff foam in tar and poke it in there.

along the lines that John just mentioned..
Go to Home Despot, and get "backer rod" or foam rod that is used to back up large gaps when caulking. I think its also called "Caulk Saver" comes in vary diameters 1" would be appropo I would leave it out if its for a track car |
