Battery Recomendations?

I have an Interstate battery that was installed by the PO. I don't how old it is but I can't seem to get it to hold a charge much above 10V after accidentally draining it pretty low. Any recommendations for a replacement? I think I need a group 49 battery with approximately 800-1000 CCA. Thanks

There has been much talk on here lately about "ultimate batteries" and such. You might care to do a search on this. I will give you a heads up on this that many on here are trying to reduce weight in their battery choices. I really like Opitma batteries if cost isn't the first priority because of their endurance and durability.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed the new Civic replacement yellow top Opitma? Its listed at like #31 so somewhere between the #38 red top Miata and the extremely light #18 Odyssey. If you want, what I feel is maybe the best, Mike, I'd look into the 900 some odd cranking Odyssey..ran one for several years on a high compression Mustang.

Go with a group 34 red top Optima, you can't go wrong.

I like my Red Top purchased 6 years ago

I have a Spiral Gel Cell I got from my local Kragen (autoparts store) for my truck almost four years ago. I think these are really red-tops re-branded for Kragen or Napa, etc.

I prefer the Gel Cell from my local Kragen because of the easy warranty. I simply bring it back to my Local Kragen. They have a two year replacement and a six year pro-rated. I haven't found this good of a deal on the red-top lately. Usually the red-top I have to ship back to the manufacturer. However, I see my local Autozone will take the red-top back with replacement the first year.

Good luck.

I cannot say it better. The optima red top is a superb choice. I'll not buy a different battery for any vehicle till someone shows me a better choice. Toughness, weight, and slow power loss in storage all are an advantage that I prefer. My buddie with his battery shop told me of these and said " I put one in all my daughters cars and will never worry about dead batteries on that car". So far I believe him.
