Heater Blowers update-Kurt B

Thanks to all that assisted me in solving my issue with the blowers.

Kurt B...Here is some additional information that may assist you in solving you issue.

Footwell blowers are activated by the 3 position switch located between the seats. If you open up this assembly, you have 2 switches. Make sure they are activating/seated properly when turning the knob.

In reviewing the schematics:

If the switches are not seated, it will blow a fuse (AC) when you turn on your AC. In other words, the white switch in there becomes loose and will not make contact with the cam on the knob.

The blower in the engine compartment is activated by pulling the levers between the seats. The relay in the engine compartment will click. The connector to the engine blower should show 12v's and is activated when grounded. This indicates direct battery connection.

Also...there is a circut that will activate the blower in the engine compartment if the engine temps reach a certain level.

Can't/won't get the car hot enough to test this but, all indications are that if blower systems are working properly, this feature will do what it's supposed to do.

Hope this helps...

regards

Thanks for the followup. Appreciate it.

When I recarpeted the 84, I found that temperature control system between the seats was hooked up to ...Nada!
So, from my end, this is basically what I'm looking at down there:

I know the three wires I have hooked up will turn on the footwell blowers. However, I can't find a combination (spent less time trying after the footwells works because that is enough heat to keep me more than toasty) that gets 12v back to the blower!

With Warren's tip on the tail light extra bundle (which I found), i have considered hijacking that wiring and hooking it up to the blower. Then, I'd only have to pull it off the light switch, and hook it up to the new heater switch. When I flipped the headlamp washers, all 3 fans would turn on....but I'm not sure the wiring i'd be hijacking could handle the current, which is why I haven't done it

Just a thought...

Check your ground wires just below and behind the brake master cylinder.
