rear half axle cleaning
So I removed the right rear half axle to replace a torn boot (awesome diy feeling). That is a nasty job. Thank you Fast Orange for helping to clean my hands.
Question: Should I clean the whole half axle and CV joint before I replace the torn boot? Is there a procedure for cleaning it? I tried a search and looked for a technical article, but found nothing. Please help if you know the answer or where to find it.

how long was the boot torn? does the grease look dirty or feel gritty? how paranoid are you?
-- if you do clean it, use a solvent tank and get all the old grease out, then repack. search for some detailed info on all this. cv is hard to search on 'cuz of only 2 letters. half shaft + joint ought to pull up a lot.
