Question Early 911 Door stop question

I have a 1972 911T and the doors make a loud snapping noise when they are opened beyond a detent in the door stop mechanism. When I watch this happen, I see the clevis pin that holds the door stop jump. The snap noise seems to be getting louder. What should I do to fix the problem? Do I need a new door stop clevis pin so there is no play? Do I just need to lube the mechanism? Thanks.

Check Pelican catalog for Door Stay Re-enforcement kit. Sounds like what you need before you ruin the door sheet metal. Get the "101 Projects...." book for better detail on how/why to do this and other projects.

Before you go to that expense, check this thread: Driver door "CLICKS" when open/closes

Thumbs up

Thanks for the tips you guys. I will try the cheap route first because there doesn't appear to be any damage. If the sheet metal is totally torn and ripped, I'll have to put in the door stay reinforcement. Cheers!
