Well, I would put winter oil in it and then change to summer oil. It sounds expensive, but cars don't like to sit and oil doesn't age gracefully from what I know. At least in a motor started once every 30 days and warmed to 180. That's not enough to boil off the water and I bet you don't run it long enough to evaporate ALL the water at the lower temp.

So, I'm gonna vote for something not on the list. 10/30 winter and 20/50 in the summer. Both dino, of course.

Just put it down for the winter. Do the oil change, add a bit of stabil and maybe fog the motor with fogging oil. Pull the battery and air up the tires. It will be ready and waiting for you in the spring. I do the same with my 911 and Ski Nautique. Check with some boat yards/marinas, some very expensive toys sit all winter without periodic starts and they are fine.

If this is winter oil only and will never see street usage (winter warmups only), maybe a non-syn 5w20 (ford motorcraft branded) may be the winner. I personally would just put in a good 5w40 delvac 1 oil (syn mixed fleet oil- great for aircooled engines) because I don't think it makes leaks "appear" or get any worse, but that's just me :-)

5w30 dino oil is my suggestion (provided you change to something heavier - 20W50- in the spring prior to highway driving) to make life easier on the battery when you start it. I would also use fuel stabilizer when you put it to sleep for the winter. Jim

I like regular Rotella T....Am I correct in saying that is a good oil for Spring/summer/fall usage in a Porsche? I run it in heavy equipment w/ good results

Actually, as long as it meets API service specification SL and has the correct multi-viscosity rating I believe the brand is mostly irrelevant. I'm partial to Castrol GTX for my 911 though. Jim
