Engine Removal 72T MFI Question
I have read the different threads on engine removal.
Does anyone know the exact # of inches the torsion bar tubes need to be off of the ground for an engine removal with a 72 T with standard MFI? I'm measuring from the bottom of the tubes. How many inches less will I have to lift the car if I remove the rear liscense panel? Thanks for the help. Best, Ian |
That's a tough question IAN. I don't know the exact inches, but I can tell you the exact way I removed my '72T engine:
1. Lift car and put rear wheels on wheel ramps (I used the standard steel ones, not the rhino ramps...It's just what I've had for a long time). 2. Remove the rear license panel. This helps alot. 3. Unhook necessary items. 4. Remove air cleaner housing. 5. Proceed with engine drop. I felt alot safer using wheel ramps over jackstands on the torsion tubes. Not that jackstands are unsafe, but there's no way the car is going to fall off wheel ramps. Good luck! |
Jay...a quick question
Did you keep the fuel injection on? I hope so...
Thanks. Ian |
Yep, it just slides under using my method. The key was to take off the rear panel where the license plate mounts.
