Door striker plate

I need to adjust the door stiker plate on my '79 SC. The bolt head looks like it accepts a modefied star wrench (similar to an alan wrench, but with more teeth). Questions: What size is this wrench? Can I expect to find one at my local hardware or auto parts store? Thanks.

Kurt

Kurt you are looking for 12 point 8mm hex socket, I bought a set of 6 sizes in a plastic case all 1/2 inch drive from a local NAPA auto parts store-been years ago though. Check our host.

If you are in a hurry, you can get these at Sears, or many FLAPS including the chains like AutoZone.

Not trying to take a sale away from Pelican/Drivewerks. If you are ordering anything from them, have them throw some in the box. BTW, it's the same tool used for the CV bolts, so you should have one.

Kurt - It's the same size that VW folks use to remove their axles. If your tools store doesn't have one, your auto parts store will...Bob S.

Thanks guys. I looked under Pelican tools, but didn't see anything listed. I'll try local, and if not sucessful have Pelican include one in my next order.

Good deal Kurt.....I needed to do mine recently and was ticked when I saw what kind of tool I needed. I then got thinking, dug thru my tools and just happened to find one I bought over 20 years ago to change a trans on my VW Sirrocco (?)
