New carpet project - While I'm in there...

Hi all,

Today I ordered a new carpet set on E-bay (appbiz). I can't wait until I get it! Now I have something to do in the garage this winter. But the question is... all these "while-I'm-in-there-projects".

I'm thinking this must be a good opportunity to do all these things that are difficult when everything is in place. So far I've come up with:

- Get off all the old paint and glue and check for rust. Then use some rust-preventive color
- Mount seatbelts in the back (for the kids)
- Rebuilding pedal cluster (don't know it it's necessary but...)
- Sound deadening? I don't have any today, but it might be good? What should I use? Where should I use it? It's an old beat-up targa so it won't be very quiet anyway...
- Try to fix the broken hand throttle

Any more idéas?

/Christian

Renew shift coupler?
Renew clutch or throttle cable?
Replace crushed paper/foil heater hoses?

How is your back shelf vinyl and side panels? You could have those recovered. And while you are under there you could check for rust under the back shelf and under the seats. Here's hoping to that you don't find any!

I replaced the back shelf vinyl last winter... (it was a pain to get it in place under the rubber seal for the back window)

The side panels looks ok, but I guess they won't look as good when the rest of the interior is new... I have to consider that one...

Shift coupler... I don't know how to tell if it have to be replaced

Cluth / Throttle cable - They work, so they shold be fine. Or am I wrong? (I'm not very experienced...)

Heater hoses - Good point! I will have a look at these

Thanks!
