It's even more beautiful naked!

What stripper did you use. I wonder if the stripper would be effective in the cold Michigan winter temps?

I just cringed when I saw the pictures. I was in that mode a year ago. Are you going to do the undercarriage or just the outer body shell?

Thanks guys. My son needed some money so I took the week off to work on the 73. Supervision is hard work, I have to go pull that rear window out and put a little filler here and there to give him something more to sand on.

I did a Google for 'aircraft stripper' :

Drunken Stripper Crashes in Aircraft
Source: Reuters

(LONDON, ENGLAND) -- A drunken woman looking for a place to sleep slipped past security and onto an aircraft at Aberdeen airport in Scotland where she dozed unnoticed for several hours, sparking a review of security.

The British Airports Authority (BAA) said Monday it had launched a full investigation after the woman -- reported by a newspaper to be a scantily clad stripper -- scaled a fence and boarded a private jet.

"The young woman was found aboard an aircraft last Thursday and an investigation is under way," a BAA spokesman said.

The Sun newspaper said 22-year-old Soraya Wilson was discovered eight hours after she passed out in the plane's cockpit. She was cautioned but not charged.

"I don't know who was more embarrassed when they found me, the security men or me, because I was just wearing my knickers and a little top when I woke up," she told the paper.

Seriously, was it this stuff?

It is THE NASTIEST STUFF ON EARTH. But you knew that already after swathing the entire car in the goop

Yes, that's the stuff. Im not going anywhere near as far as Targa80 went with his. I'll be doing good remembering how to put it back together now. I have to weld in part of the rear deck and seat area, so I'll go ahead and pull the motor. The pan seems in good shape . The plan is to get it in primer for now. The driver's door needs bushings and the fender joining panels were shot. Ive got some replacement fenders to fit up also.

Jeez, Randy...............yes, you can have my car, but you have to donate the equivalent value to cancer research.

That is, if the car doesn't die of it's own cancer first.

Hmmmm... we might have a deal -- IF you finish it first....

[it's just a joke -- along with an admonition ... I'd hate to see a lot of sick people from this.]

My cars never get finished. I get to 95-98% and it gets too detailed for me. Maybe people look at the car and say it's done, but I know about the last little hose to the winshield washer or whatever. If they get done, then I want to sell them. So, I say I can't sell it because I still have to "do some things to it."

I saw the little Kleen Strip logo on the can of Aircraft Stripper. I don't think we have that in CA or at least LA County. It must be bad stuff.

I used some Jasco thick stripper and the plasitc cover up method. Took 3 applications to get everything off to bare metal, the last one being a #3 coarse steel wool rub down and rinse. If you find a patch of bondo, it might take doubling up as you go, meaning 6 coats or more. You've to to be patient and let the stuff work, something I have a hard time with. All in all, it took me about 8 hours to do my 911.

If you let the removed paint dry, our trash police say it's OK to throw away the scrapings.

without pics of "the copper wire brush on a drilling machine going through the still active aircracftstripper while whoever is operating said machinery is wearing nothing but a flimsy tshirt and eye protection ", i'll have to label this as softcore stripping... no offence, but that's just the way i see it.

Zeke, The aircraft stripper is available in SoCal, I went through alot of it to do my car. It was available at most auto paint suppliers. The big thing is to shop around I found a difference of about $8.00 per gallon between two shops. Naturally, I started buying all my paint supplies from the cheaper guy.

Why would you use aircraft stripper on a car? Dont they make stripper for auto paint? I painted my aircraft with auto paint, now how do I get that off??

Craig

Craig
if it's good enough to eat the paint of an aircraft, then it definately eats the paint of a car

when it comes to hardware , tools , or chemicals
if it has the workd "aircraft" in on the box , you can usually consider it hard core stuff...

try it ,
aircraft grade aluminium
